My photography is straightforward and non-manipulative. My images are an attempt to capture what I see and experience in the field. My interest in photography grew as an extension of my interest in nature and natural history; it's now a passion.
Some of the photographs here took years to produce, compositions were refined and places visited again and again; other photographs were more serendipitous, simply a matter of being at the right place at the right time.
There is beauty everywhere; finding and framing this beauty is an exercise in 'seeing' - it is an attempt to step beyond the obvious and open oneself to new experiences and fresh perspectives. When practiced in this manner, photography goes beyond mere documentation and transcends into the realm of interpretation, art and capturing the essence of the landscape.
Developing my photographic eye has been rewarding - it has been a meditative and contemplative experience. I am more sensitive to light, color and the beauty of nature now.
While each of these photographs has a story and a context, nature speaks for herself most eloquently. It is my hope that you will find these images appealing and that they will resonate with you.
